Invited Dignitary Sudhir Sharma, the founder and Chief Executive of INDI Design has 3 decades of experience, working in India and travelling extensively in Asia/Europe region for providing his significant contribution on design education among various universities. He is also the Publisher and Editor-in-chief of award-winning POOL Magazine, India’s only magazine focused on design, Innovation and creative sectors.
He was invited to P P Savani School of Design, PPSU with an intent of conferring his active collaboration carrying on the dialogue with respect to the existent industrial prominence and academical structure consolidating the pedagogical formation conducive to the advancement of the School of Design.
PPSUStudents of the School of Design recently exhibited their artwork, developed during their Mysore Educational Trip 2020. They were engaged in creating an elegant, thoughtful and creative ambience, unveiling their artworks coherent to their projects by executing the thought process and technique involved in each of the artwork displayed during the time of exhibition. The intent was to capture the visitor’s interest by providing an appropriate information setting for the interpretation of the artifacts developed during the time of their Educational Trip.
Many visitors including the other students, principals, faculties of other departments, our honorable trustees of the university along with the management, paid their visit to the exhibition. This exhibition was also running during the time of our exclusive university cultural fest Kalagoonj2020, where our honourable chief guest Ashutosh Gautam, General Manager of NHAI, Gandhinagar, also paid his visit and appreciated the students’ work.
P PSavani School of Design organized a two week Educational Trip to Mysore, started on 17th January 2020 and will be commencing on 31st January 2020. This is an engagement program for the students, where they were introduced to the techniques of making the Traditional MysorePaintings and GanjifaArt (Historic Card Games of Medieval Period). Renowned artists like Chandrika Ramanarasaiah and Dipti Madam conducted this workshop for the students of BDes.
1st year Foundation Batch were enthusiastic about learning the classical form of traditional MysorePainting and the students of 2nd year batch passionately participated in the art of making GanjifaCards. #GanjifaCards were brought in India by Persians and became popular under Mughal reign, during the 16th century.
All the students were actively involved in learning and understanding the intricate & delicate techniques of both the arts. It is definitely a treat to the eyes watching students' dedication and engagement in the entire process of creating it.
Bhavin Kheniya, an industrialist and a proprietor of Kathakar recently visited the academia School of Design. Students provided him with appropriate information about the thought process and technique involved in each of the artwork. He witnessed the glimpse of the work done by the students of SOD and was highly mesmerized with the diverse range of presentation of work and design collection executed in the premises.
What sets apart a designer's approach to problem-solving is his/her ability to use Design Thinking. One core attribute of Design Thinking is the ability to make sense of the problem by "Making CONNECTIONS" between different perspectives of the problem thus approaching it in a way that is more informed and practical.
The speaker AUSTIN DAVIS, Play Experience Designer, National Institute Of Design (NID), Design Educator | Game Designer | Illustrator shared his insights on "PROBLEM-SOLVING by Making Connections: A Designer's Approach" on May 17, 2020.
During the webinar he discussed the attributes of making connections and ended with a beginner's framework to give everyone a headstart into adopting this technique in approaching problem-solving.
P P Savani University organized a Drawing Competition during the lockdown period on the theme 'COVID 19 Awareness'.
Close to 100 participants participated across the country. Every participant had enthusiastically put down their creative thoughts in the competition. We have selected 5 Top winners and 5 consolation winners from the competition.
